Fall is upon us

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 20, 2009, 12:50 PM
It is fall time, Yippy. I love this time of year. The way that nature paints this wonderful abstract pictures with colors. Trees aren’t prefect they have symmetry, the leaves change colors at different time. One tree can be green, orange and red. This is what I love about the season. It also doesn’t help that this is the season that I am named after. The depression I was experiencing last month has gone away for the moment. It is a personal war that comes and goes. At the moment I am just glad that it is gone so I can focus on other things like art. Yippy. The problem I now face is that I have several project going at once and none of them are finished. I am such a bad girl. So priority number 1 is the baby blanket I am crocheting , it is a mile a minute blanket and it is half finished. I am working on the center of part 8 and when it is done I will connect it with 7 and the rest of the blanket. I have 4 more after that. Once I am finished I will take pictures. The other project I can’t finish till I get to Colorado in December. This is the reason why there haven’t been any new paintings from me in a long time. I am out of turpentine which I use to thin out the paint and make it workable. I taught myself how to paint and it is what works for me. I understand it isn’t how you are supposed to use turpentine. One of the other projects involves some yarn that my mother and mother-in-law gave me. The yarn is called BOA and is fuzzy. I have a blue-green transition and a yellow red transition. The problem is I can’t see my stitches so it is taking me a while to make the scarves. The blue one I am following a pattern the yellow one I designed the pattern. Both I hope to complete soon and will post pictures of them. The final projects are related to my SCA involvement. I have been doing a lot of research lately and have found where my persona will be from. Zoe (Sophia) will be from Constantinople around 1100 AD. Her family left after her father was killed during the 1st crusade. The being said I have been looking in to the costuming required to pull this off. With the help of my husband I will have pictures of this post some time before my birthday (it will most like take that long to get the sewing done). My first introduction to art was bead working. I have been doing it since I was 9 years old. One of these days I will do something with the pounds of beads that I have. The problem is that I move a lot and till recently I didn’t have a good storage system for them and the colors (and hours of hard work) would get mixed up again. This year I found a company called craft mates which makes a set of compartments that lock and are designed for beads. I was so happy I bought a full set. Now the problem or shorting my beads comes again. I am really picky with colors and won’t work on something unless I can look at the colors first and designs it in my little mind. So, as I short my beads I get ideas and I am also researching history about recreating some of those works (and added my own spin on it).
So I have a lot on my plate at the moment. I tend to change between all of them work a bit and then leave it alone for a while. I find that this way I don’t get burned out. Either that or I can’t focus on anything. At the moment writing poetry is on hold while I get my mind straight. There is no tail to tell at the moment. There is a story in the works, I only have a short story written about Holly (who is a little to much like me). However her story is too complicated at the moment and I need some time. It might take me years to finish it with the pace I am going but that is fine. One day her story will be finished till then she will stay in her hole. So I wish everyone luck in their art. I am always surprised by the amount of truly gifted artist on this site. All who seem to have more talent in their big toe than I do in my hands. With practice maybe I will be there also. Till then hard work will be fine.
